Monster Island, the Asylum's 2019 mockbuster, was released around the same time as Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The film is about an island with the same name as the island itself, where a monster lives.


Because the budget for this asylum film is so low (about the equivalent of a large children’s meal), they chose (see video) to shoot only a few scenes and all of the key moments with the cast's A-listers during lunch. The Asylum is not a kaiju film.
